Sunny Sohal and Harpreet Mandher notch up 336 opening partnership against Chandigarh in Katoch Shield

Chandigarh skipper Uday Kaul must be ruing his decision to put Mohali to bat at PCA Stadium Mohali after winning the toss. Mohali which is at the bottom of the league table had a successful outing today with openers Harpreet Mandher and Sunny Sohal balsting336 runs for the first wicket with both the openers scoring their respective tons. Harpreet Mandher went on to clobber 188 while Sunny Sohal made 144 on a lifeless Mohali track.  After the opening partnership was broken Chandigarh bowlers Siddharth and Gurinder Singh came into their elements and grab 5 wickets in space of 16 runs to reduce Mohali to 352 for 5 in 87 overs.

On the first day of the match between Ludhiana and Patiala at Dhruv Pandove Stadium, Patiala, Patiala won the toss and elected to bat. They were 301 for 7 in 89.1 overs at close of play.  They lost their opener Jeevanjot Singh centurian of the last match against Mohali without any run on the board off the fourth  ball of Baltej Singh in the first over.  At one stage Patiala were 90 for 4 in 34.1 overs, then a brilliant century 103 by Himanshu Chawla of 150 balls inclusive of 8 boundaries and four towering sixes and unbeaten 82 by Preet Kamal saw the duo stitching a partnership of 182 runs for the 5 wicket before Himanshu Chawla was caught by Ashish off Rahul with team’s total reading 272 for 5. Baltej Singh 2 for 22 , Rahul Singla  3 for 121 were the main wicket takers for Ludhiana There were three short holdups because of rain.

The 3rd match between Amritsar and Jalandhar at Gandhi ground Amritsar was truncated because of inclement of weather and only 19.5 overs were bowled in which Amritsar after being put into bat by Jalandhar were 47 for 2 when stumps were drawn for the day. Karan Sharma scored 34 runs while Ishan Malhotra captured 2 wickets for 3 runs.
