 Agenda of the meeting : To discuss and finalize the conduct of Mini Olympics 2012.

 

Schoolzworld.com under the patronage of Chandigarh Olympics Association is organizing the

second season of Mini Olympics in Chandigarh.

 

Mini Olympics 2012 is going to be a 5-days long event where more than 6000 students from more

than 100 schools from Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali and surrounding cities are coming together to

show their best.

 

The five days Sports Fiesta will have 24 different events taking place simultaneously around the city

at various sports venues, namely: Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Chess,

Cricket, Cycling, Dance Sports, Football, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Karate, Kho-

Kho, Lawn Tennis, Netball, Shooting, Skating, Table Tennis, Table soccer, Volleyball and

Wrestling.

 

The executive committee of the Chandigarh Olympic Association met to discuss the conduct

of Mini Olympics 2012.

 

The meeting was presided over by Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi, President Chandigarh Olympic

Association and Chairman of the organising Committee of Mini Olympics. Mr. Ravinder Talwar,

Gen.Secy. Chandigarh Olympic Association and Secy. DAV Management Committee, was also

present.

 

Vikas Dahiya, Director, Schoolzworld.com and organising secretary of the Mini Olympics thanked

Chandigarh Olympic Association for their contribution in making Mini Olympic 2011 a grand success

and hopes for the same kind of effort for the second season.

 

Facts about Mini Olympics 2011 (Last year)-

 

16 disciplines – This year there will be 24 disciplines

 

76 schools – This year there will be more than 100 schools

 

More than 3000 players – This year participation will exceed 6000

The plan is to have the entire Tricity play

 

As Mini Olympics 2011 been a grand success, Mini Olympics 2012 is going to be marketed and

publicized at an extremely grand level. The publicity of the event will be carried out by following

measures:

 

1. Torch Relay – There will a “Torch relay” on the lines of Olympics Baton Relay. The Mini

Olympics 2012 Torch will be flagged off from Sacred Heart School (Winner of Mini Olympics

2011) by a prominent personality. The torch will then be moved to all participating schools.

The best sportsperson of the school will receive the torch and then carry it to the next school.

The schedule and route of the complete Torch relay will be published in the newspapers

in advance. The Mini Olympics 2012 Torch will reach the opening venue on the opening

ceremony.

 

2. GRAND OPENING AND CLOSING CEREMONY – With all the participating schools present

along with their students we plan to kick start the event with a big opening ceremony in

presence of many esteemed invitees. The opening ceremony should have – a prominent

singer, march past of participants, torch ceremony, oath ceremony and announcing of the

games open.

Also have the prize distribution/closing ceremony the same way.

 

3. A specially designed website www.miniolympics.in is launched. The website will have the

entire detail of the said event including: -

 

a. Details of the each team and their history

b. Interviews of Players, principals, coaches, students etc

c. Schedule and results

d. Photo Gallery and Video Gallery of the event
