2ND All India Under-19 Tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy

The 2nd All India Under-19 Invitation Tournament for Dhruv Pandove Trophy will be held at Chandigarh, Mohali and Patiala from 1st to 13th October,2012. According to Capt. Sushil Kapoor,Tournament Director Eight teams have confirmed their participation in the tournament. The Participating teams are Punjab, Vidarbha, Odisha, Bengal, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Madhya Pardesh and Himachal Pardesh. The teams will be drawn in two pools Pool-A will consist of Punjab, Vidarbha, Odisha and Bengal and Pool – B will consist of Mumbai, Madhya Pardesh, Hyderabad and Himachal Pardesh.  The Tournament will be played on league cum knock out basis. The league matches will be of two days duration with 100 overs to be bowled on each day. The top team of Pool-A and Top team of Pool B will play a four day final from 10-13 October,2012 at Dhruv Pandove Cricket Stadium, Patiala, Patiala being the home town of late Dhruv Pandove. This tournament will be a lung opener for Under-19 teams before the start of Under-19 Inter state matches starting from 20th October.  The winners will get a cash prize of Rs.1.00 lac alongwith the winners trophy while the runners up will pocket Rs. 50,000/- and the runners up trophy. There will be man of the match award for each match and special awards will be given to the best batsmen, best all rounder and best bowlerof the tournament.  The tournament is being played under the auspices of Punjab Cricket Association and is recognized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The tournament is to perpetuate the memory of young Dhruv who died at the age of 19 after achieving many mile stones at this young age. He was the youngest player who completed 1000 runs in Ranji trophy cricket championship at the age of 17 years and 341 days. He was youngest to score half century and century in his Ranji Trophy debut at the age of 13 years and 310 days. He shared the stage with likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble, Rahul Dravid, Vinod Kambli,Sourabh Ganguli , Ajay Jadeja and many others.

T20 tri-series: Chameera's 4-fer against Pakistan leads Sri Lanka to final
