PARTHIV PATEL HIT CENTURYIN 19TH ALL INDIA J.P ATRAY MEMORIAL CRICKET TOURNAMENT

Skipper Parthiv Patel came up with a captains knock of 100 off 107 balls studded with 9 boundaries and one six to help his team Reliance-I to carve out a emphatic 182 runs win against CAG to set up a semi finals clash with BPCL Mumbai. Winning the toss and electing to bat at Sector 16 Stadium, Chandigarh Parthiv Patel in company of Aditya Waghmod put up 107 runs for the first wicket in 20.5 overs before Aditya Wagmod was snapped by wicket keeper Nitin Saini off medium pacer Bharat Lumba for 51 off 62 balls inclusive of 6 boundaries. Aditya’s departure saw Yogesh Nagar walking in and he in the company of Parthiv Patel added 105 runs for the 2nd wicket before Parthiv Patel was caught by Amit Prashar off Imtiaz Ahmad. for a well made century (100). Yogesh Nagar was later trapped in front by Bipul Sharma for an explosive 83 off 84 balls studded with 5 boundaries and three towering sixes. Sujit Naik remained unbeaten on 24 off 18 balls with three boundaries as Reliance innings ended at 299 for 7 in the allotted 50 overs. Bharat Lumba  2 for 52 and Kuldeep Rawal 2 for 58 shared the spoils for CAG.

Replying CAG had a disastrous start losing their first three wickets of Nitin Saini (0) Amit Prashar (7) and Gaurav Gambhir (4) in 10 overs for just 30 runs. Then Bharat Chauhan and Paramvir Singh put on 31 runs for the 4th wicket before Paramvir Singh was trapped in front by Murtza Vohra for 13.  Bharat Bhushan was next to go being run out by Yogesh Nagar for 32 off 58 balls with three boundaries. Kuldeep Rawal made 20 off 18 with three boundaries as CAG’s reputed batting line up folded up for mere 117 in just 30.1 overs. They in fact lost 9 wickets as Arpit Basbada was injured while fielding and could not bat. For Reliance Sujit Naik 3 for 19 was the main wicket taker. Parthiv Patel for his brilliant century was named man of the match. With this win Reliance qualified for the Semi final where they will take on BPCL who entered the Semi Final yesterday at PCA Stadium, Mohali.

In the second quarter final played at GMSSS Sector 26 between ONGC and MPCA, MPCA won the match by 5 wickets and qualified for the semi finals.  Winning the toss MPCA decided to field and their decision proved correct as they bundled out star studded ONGC for 186 in just 43.4 overs. They opened with India International Parveen Kumar and Sandeep Sharma who put on 34 runs in 5.4 overs before Parveen Kumar was castled by Amarjeet for 20 off 17 balls inclusive of 2 boundaries and one six. Thereafter ONGC kept on losing wickets at regular intervals and were looking down the barrel with the score reading 59 for 4 in 17.1 overs. The a 5th wicket stand of 43 between Mayank Tehlan and Mithun Minhas saw the total move upto 102 for 5 in 27.2 overs before Mithun Minhas was bowled by Rameez Khan for 24 off 30 balls inclusive of one boundary and one six. ONGC slide continued as they slipped to 116 for 8 in 33 overs. Then a rear guard action by Sorab Kumar and Sohail Sharma saw the duo put up a partnership of 51 runs for the 9th wicket before Sohail was caught by Anand Singh off D.Chaurasia for 39 off 23 balls inclusive of five boundaries and two huge sixes. Sorab Kumar remained on unbeaten on 27 as ONGC innings ended up on 186 in 43.4 overs. Ishwar pandey  2 for 28, D,Chaurasia  2 for 27 Amit Pal  2 for 39 did most of the damage for MPCA.

Replying MPCA opened with Zafar Ali and Amit Pal and the two put on 26 runs in 7 overs before Amit Pal was cleaned up by Parveen Kumar for 04. At this stage Udit Birla joined Zafar Ali and the duo put on 50 runs for 2nd wicket before Udit Birla was clean bowled by Sumit Narwal for 13. Another useful partnership of 45 for the 3rd wicket between Rameez Khan 19 and Zafar Ali saw the team’s total advance to 121 for 3 in 31.2 overs. Anand Singh in company of Zafar Ali put on 49 runs for the 4th wicket before Anant Singh was caught by Puneet Mehra off Parveen Kumar for 24. Zafar Ali in the meanwhile continued to hold one end up and finished the game by hitting a straight four over mid on to register his personal unbeaten century 102 and also take the team past the winning post. Zafar Ali remained unbeaten on 102 off 119 balls with the help of 16 well executed boundaries and one straight field six. MPCA Scored 188 for 5 in 43.2 overs to record a five wickets win and qualify for the semi final against PCA Colts to be played at GMSSS Sector 26, Chandigarh. Parveen Kumar 2 for 36 was the most successful bowler for ONGC. Zaffar Ali for his brilliant unbeaten century was named man of the match.
