Delhi emerged as champions in 20th National Junior Korfball Championship

Chandigarh, September 9, 2012 : Delhi, today won the 20th National Junior Korfball Championship being played at Govt Model High School, Sector 34, Chandigarh. The champion topped the super league with two wins and a draw securing five points in the table tally. Champions sweat hard to beat its counterparts, all in close finishes. In the first match, Delhi beat Chattisgarh in a tight scoring match 11-10. Winners were leading 7-3 at half time. Losers made their comeback later to make it close finish.  Lalit scored three goal for Delhi. Delhi, in another match beat defending champion Haryana 8-7. Match was equalizer 4-4 at half time. Naveen scored five goals for winning team. In its last Chandigarh settled a draw with Delhi to hurdle its winning spree. Match was draw with 10-10.
Haryana, the runner up team in championship secured two wins and one defeat. Haryana beat Chandigarh in a one side affair by 12-5. Winners were leading 8-4 at the half time. In another match Chattisgarh proved too easy for Haryana as Haryana beat Chattisgarh 19-3. Winners were leading 7-0 till the half time.
Chandigarh outclassed Chattisgarh for third place. Host beat visitors by 12-7. Winners were leading 6-3 till half time. Sanjay and Tarun scored three goal each for winning side.
Aditya from Haryana declared the player of the Championship. Naveen from Delhi while Amita from Chattisgarh were adjudged the best performers of the Championship.
Alchemist Group was the sponsor of the four day Championship concluded today.
Balbir Singh (PCS), Director, Information & Technology, Director, Chandigarh Transport Undertanking (CTU) and Additional IG, Jail, Chandigarh Administration in the presence of Rajansh Thakural, Senior Vice President, Chandigarh Korfall Association & Director, Alchemist Group gave away the prizes to the winners.

T20 tri-series: Chameera's 4-fer against Pakistan leads Sri Lanka to final
