PCA Holds 64th Annual General Body Meeting

In the 64th Annual General Body Meeting of PCA held yesterday at PCA Stadium, Mohali , Mr. M.P. Pandove, who is shouldering the crucial responsibility of the BCCI as Chairman, National Cricket Academy and Special Academies was unanimously and with one voice re-elected Secretary of PCA while Mr. I.S. Bindra was also elected President for the next term. The members at the AGM recorded the highest appreciation for the work done by this team for taking PCA  to the pinnacle of glory in the cricketing circles and reposed their full confidence in their continuing leadership.  Other Office Bearers appointed during the AGM are Mr. Viswajeet Khanna, Hony. Treasurer, Mr. G.S. Walia Honorary Jt. Secretary, Justice S.S.Sodhi (Retd.), Mr. S.S. Saini, Mr. D.P. Reddy and Mr. B.K. Mehta as Vice Presidents. The Executive Members are

The new elected executive will meet on 3rd August,2012 at PCA Cricket Stadium Mohali to appoint the various sub-committees for looking after senior and junior cricketing activities for the year 2012-2013 and also to make coaching training programmes for the cricket camps with emphasis on maximum utilization of cricketing facilities at PCA Stadium Mohali by running the BCCI Academy and PCA Academy for 300 days in a year. 

The House congratulated Mr. R.P. Pandove, Secretary Patiala Cricket Association for being elected President of All India Electricity Sports Control Board. 

The members were pleased  to know about the recovery of Mr. G.S. Walia, Hony. Jt. Secretary, PCA and Mr. Yuvraj Singh and wished them best of health in the coming years. The members also wished and hoped that Yuvraj Singh would  make an early come back into the Indian Team. The House also condoled the death of Mr. Harold Ghosh, Lt. Col. Ajit Singh Judge and Mr. Sat Pal Juneja who were members of the PCA family. 

Mr. M.P. Pandove Secretary dwelled on the performance of the various teams of the state in the domestic tournaments of the BCCI. He also recorded that three players of Under-19 Mr. Manan Vohra, Mr. Kamal Passi and Mr. Sandeep Sharma have been selected for Under 19 World Cup while Ms. Harmanpreet Kaur  was Vice Captain of Indian Team that toured England and has now been shortlisted for Women Twenty-20 World Cup to be played in Sri Lanka and Mr. Rahul Sharma for getting into the National Team. He also informed the members about Mr. Mandeep Singh being named as the rising young star of IPL-5.  The Punjab Under 22 Team which won the Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy were honoured with cash prize of Rs.20.00 lacs which included 10.00 lacs received from BCCI with equal contribution from PCA. Amritsar District won the Best District Cash Prize Award    of Rs.5.00 lacs and Patiala District got the 2nd Best District Cash Award of Rs. 2.5 Lacs.

Keeping alive the past traditions PCA also honoured four senior life members  Er. R.S. Dhiman, Prof. B.M. Rawlley , Sh. Narinder  Sayal and Prof. Y.L. Chopra by presenting them with Shawls and Mementoes

Mr. M.P. Pandove informed the members about the final procurement of 43 acres of land in Mullanpur Development Plan Area approved for Sports and Leisure activities.  The Stadium and other facilities being created have been proposed to be developed in the MEGA Projects Scheme of the State Government for which the association has submitted the papers.  Once this facility is created, besides the International Cricket it will generate the sports tourism in the state in terms of viewership of international games including the advance coaching in the state of art (Hi-tech Infrastructure) and will be a nodal centre of Cricket Excellence in the country.

Mr. M.P. Pandove thanked the members and other functionaries of PCA for their whole hearted support for smooth running of the affairs of the association.
