Under Panchayat Yuva Krida aur Khel Abhiyan (PYKKA) 50 Gram Panchayats have been given sports kits and nutritious food kits have also been provided to 58 children suffering from malnutrition in district Sirsa today.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that sports kits costing Rs five lakh were distributed which include four volleyball kits, four basketball, three handball, two football, two short put kits, two pairs of boxing gloves, one pair of boxing pad, two volleyball nets and two basketball nets.
He said that each of the 58 children were given one kg almonds and a box of protinex. He said that a survey was conducted by Women and Child Development Department to identify children suffering from malnutrition in the district and on the basis of this survey,
these nutritious food kits were distributed. He said that although there was ample availability of food items in the State, but still women and children were suffering from anemia due to their unhealthy life style and lack of awareness. He said that anemia could only be prevented if the parents and mothers provide balanced diet to their children.
He said that the anganwari centres functional in the district were also being provided nutritious food. With a view to feed the children of these anganwari centres in a proper manner, a kit of utensils including a plate, tumbler, bowl and spoon would be given to every child. Also, utensils would be cleaned in a proper way.
