Senior National Wrestling LIVE on WrestlingTV

A new chapter will be added to the glorious history of Indian wrestling, as in a first the Senior Wrestling Championships will be streamed LIVE in the country and the Indian sub-continent.

WrestlingTV, India’s only dedicated digital network for news, reviews, interviews, videos and live streaming for the sport of wrestling, will stream LIVE all the major bouts from the Senior National Wrestling Championships 2019.

The Punjab State Wrestling Association under the aegis of the Wrestling Federation of India is organising the Senior National Wrestling Championships 2019 in Jalandhar, Punjab, from November 29 to December 1. Over 500 wrestlers, including a majority of Indian wrestling icons, will be vying for top honours in the men’s freestyle, Greco Roman and women’s events.

The Wrestling Federation of India president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is upbeat about this new beginning. “This is yet another initiative to popularise the sport across all walks of alive. LIVE streaming of national championship will bring the best domestic wrestling action to the fans and wrestling fraternity. It will inspire the wrestlers to put in their best as the whole nation will be watching them. It will help the next generation of Indian wrestlers understand how the sport is played at the top,” said the WFI president. “I have become an admirer of commitment and vision of our commercial partners Sporty Solutionz, who have been adding a lot of value to the sport.”

The field in the women’s competition includes India’s best bet for a wrestling medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Vinesh Phogat (53 kg), Rio de Janeiro Olympics’ bronze medallist Sakshi Malik (62 kg),  promising Divya Kakran (68 kg), Seema Bisla (50 kg), Sarita More (57 kg) and Navjot Kaur 65 kg).

Greco Roman ace Sajan (77kg) along with ace freestyle wrestlers Gaurav Baliyan (74kg), Sumit Malik (125kg), Satywart Kadian (97kg) and Rahul Mann (70 kg) are the start attractions in the men’s sections.

The bouts will be contested in the following categories in the men’s freestyle, Greco Roman and women’s competiton:

Men’s Freestyle: 57 kg, 61 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 74 kg, 79 kg, 86 kg, 92 kg, 97 kg and 125 kg.

Men’s Greco Roman: 55 kg, 60 kg, 63 kg, 67 kg, 72 kg, 77 kg, 82 kg, 87 kg, 97 kg and 130 kg.

Women: 50 kg, 53 kg, 55 kg, 57 kg, 59 kg, 62 kg, 65 kg, 68 kg, 72 kg and 76 kg.

The just-concluded Under-15 Asian Wrestling Championships, held in Taichung, China, over the last weekend has been watched by more than 18 million fans across the world on WrestlingTV’s different digital platforms, including its YouTube channel – WrestlingTV.

Fans can tune in to www.wrestlingtv.in for the LIVE and Exclusive streaming of all the matches on mats No. 1 to 3, including the finals and bronze medal bouts, at the WFI’s Senior Wrestling Championship.
