Anjum partners with Babuta to win second gold in Sardar Sajjan Singh tourney

World Championship silver medallist Anjum Moudgil on Tuesday won her second gold in the Sardar Sajjan Singh Sethi Memorial Masters Shooting Competition, partnering Arjun Babuta in the 10m air rifle mixed team event here.

Moudgil, world number eight in women’s 10m air rifle and the first Indian shooter to bag and Olympic quota, on Monday shot better than the world record to beat Mehuli Ghosh by 1.7 point for the gold in women’s air rifle.

A day later, the Punjab duo overcame Mehuli and Abhinav Shaw of West Bengal 16-12 in the gold medal match at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range.

Ayonika Paul and Akhil Sheoran won the bronze in the event beating Uttar Pradesh’s Ayushi Gupta and Saurabh 16-10 in the bronze medal match.

The day saw five other medal events with seasoned army marksman and Olympian Gurpreet Singh winning the men’s 25m centre fire pistol gold with a score of 585.

Pushpanjali Rana of the CRPF won the women’s 25m sports pistol while Arunima Gaur of UP won the junior women’s event.
