96-year-old Mann Kaur sets world record

t the age of 96, 100 meter distance in 1 minute 1 second. It seems next to impossible but Mann Kaur had done this and has set an example for many. After getting two world records on her name, Mann has also participated in the Half Marathon that was scheduled in Delhi on September 30.
Resident of sector 40 (A), Mann Kaur said that it is her son Gurdev Singh who is behind her success. "In the year 2008, one day Gurdev came to me and took me to Panjab University and ask me to walk as faster as I can and I also had not let my son down and seeing this my will power he asked me to participate in an athletic competition and after that it was no looking back" adds Kaur. She said that after winning some competition at the all India level she had gone to US and participated in the world master athletics held in 2011. In the competition she sets two world records, one was to complete 100 meter in 1 minute 1 second and other was for completing 200 meter in 2 minutes 24 seconds. However now she had further improved her timings and she preparing herself for Asian master athletic championship that is scheduled in Taiwan in November this year and after that in August 2013 she will participate is world master games to be held in Italy.
