Punjab retained by 1st innings lead of 69 runs against MPCA

Resuming at overnight total of 277 for 5, Punjab went on to score 514 for all in 162.5 overs.  Maninder Singh and Mohit Handa were involved in a 98 runs stand for the 6th wicket before Maninder Singh was caught by Mayank Jain off Kulpreet Singh for 92 off 210 balls inclusive of 11 boundaries.  He missed well deserved century by 8 runs.  After his departure Mehjot Sodhi joined Mohit Handa and the duo put on 99 runs for the 7th wicket before Mohit Handa was snapped by wicket keeper Abhishek Bhandari off Mahir Hirwani for 92 off 156 balls inclusive of 11 boundaries.  Mohit Handa was also unlucky to miss his coveted century by 8 runs.  There was a bit of scare when Punjab lost two quick wickets to be reduced to 443 for 9 still 3 runs behind the MPCA’s total of 445.  Then a 71 runs partnership between Vinay Chaudhary  49 off 48 balls inclusive of 5 boundaries and three huge sixes and Amritpal  Singh unbeaten  17 saw the Punjab team cross the 500 mark and gain a lead of 69 runs for MPCA medium pacer Kulpreet Singh bowled 70 overs for 181 runs for his 4 wickets. Mahir Hirwani got 2 for 92.

In the 2nd innings MPCA were 101 for 2 in 33 overs at the end of the match.
