Mumbai had taken a vital first innings lead of 87 runs which forced Punjab to go for quick runs and Punjab in the process scored 247 for 8 before declaring their 2^nd innings closed, leaving Mumbai to get 160 runs in 53 overs for an outright win. Mumbai achieved the target of scoring 160 for the loss of 4 wicket in the 53^rd over and record a six wickets comprehensive win to move into the quarter finals.

Earliar Punjab declared their 2^nd innings closed at 247 for 8. Their innings was bolstered by Rajat Sharma 67, Lakshay  54, and Sanvir Singh 39. For Mumbai S.Khan 3 for 58, H.Pawar  2 for 55, and William  1 for 44 did most of the damage.  Mumbai in their run chase were helped by U.J.Jaiswal  57 inclusive of 8 boundaries, A.W.Usmani  34 inclusive of 7 boundaries, A.K. Jaffar  48 inclusive of 9 boundaries. For Punjab Resham 2 for 60 and Sanvir Singh 2 for 51 were the most successful bowlers.
