Mumbai had taken a vital first innings lead of 87 runs which forced Punjab to go for quick runs and Punjab in the process scored 247 for 8 before declaring their 2nd innings closed, leaving Mumbai to get 160 runs in 53 overs for an outright win. Mumbai achieved the target of scoring 160 for the loss of 4 wicket in the 53rd over and record a six wickets comprehensive win to move into the quarter finals.

Earliar Punjab declared their 2nd innings closed at 247 for 8. Their innings was bolstered by Rajat Sharma 67, Lakshay  54, and Sanvir Singh 39. For Mumbai S.Khan 3 for 58, H.Pawar  2 for 55, and William  1 for 44 did most of the damage.  Mumbai in their run chase were helped by U.J.Jaiswal  57 inclusive of 8 boundaries, A.W.Usmani  34 inclusive of 7 boundaries, A.K. Jaffar  48 inclusive of 9 boundaries. For Punjab Resham 2 for 60 and Sanvir Singh 2 for 51 were the most successful bowlers.
