PUNJAB RECOVER AFTER A SHAKY START IN U-16 VIJAY MERCHANT TROPHY
Punjab Under-16 took on Mumbai Under-16 in the 3-day Pre-Quarter Final match at Shivaji College Ground, Delhi.  Winning the toss and electing to bat Punjab were soon on the backfoot as they lost their first wicket of Sahil (04) with the team’s total reading 06 for 01. Punjab’s slide continued thereafter and they lost Rajat (20) Lakshay (27), Mansab Gill (0) Ikjot (0) reducing the team to 72 for 5 in 29.5 overs. Then Vineet Dhakka and skipper Sanvir Singh got together to repair the innings and were involved in a 6th wicket stand of 75 runs before Vineet Dhakka got out for 47 runs off 94 balls inclusive of 6 boundaries with the team’s total reading 154 for 6. After Dhakka’s dismissal wicket keeper Pradeep Yadav joined his skipper Sanvir Singh and the two were together at close of play with team’s total reading 220 for 6. Their unfinished 7th wicket partnership has sofar  realized 66 runs.
