PUNJAB THRASH TAMIL NADU BY INNINGS AND 31 RUNS IN U-19 COOCH BEHAR TROPHY QUARTER FINAL MATCH
Punjab Under 19 trampled Tamil Nadu by an innings and 31 runs in their quarter final Elite Group encounter at lunch on the 4th day of their match at Dhruv Pandove Stadium, Patiala . Tamil Nadu resuming from overnight 141for 6 in 64 overs were bundled out for 265 in 120.5 overs. Overnight not out batsman B.Indrajith (26) went on to hammer a sedate century 110 off 266 balls inclusive of 14 boundaries before being stumped by wicket keeper Mohit Handa off left arm spinner Vinay Chaudhary. He was the last man to get out on the total of 265. S.Chandersekher who was keeping in company overnight helped him in adding 81 runs for the 7thwicket before Chandersekher was caught by Prabhjot Singh off Manender Singh for 34 off 141 balls inclusive of 2 boundaries. For Punjab left arm spinner Vinay Chaudhary bowled a marathon spell of 49.5-18-77-6 and was ably supported by off spinner Sukhwinder Singh who bowled in tandem from the other end and returned figures of 40-1`0-102-3. Tamil Nadu batsmen except B.Inderjith found it difficult to break the vice like grip of the Punjab spinning duo of Vinay Chaudhary and Sukhwinder Singh. With this win Punjab qualified to meat Mumbai in the semi finals to be played in Mumbai from 20th January,2013.
