chandigarhsportsnews.blogspot.in Mumbai had taken a vital first innings lead of 87 runs which forced Punjab to go for quick runs and Punjab in the process scored 247 for 8 before declaring their 2 nd   innings closed, leaving Mumbai to get 160 runs in 53 overs for an outright win. Mumbai achieved the target of scoring 160 for the loss of 4 wicket in the 53 rd   over and record a six wickets comprehensive win to move into the quarter finals. Earliar Punjab declared their 2 nd   innings closed at 247 for 8. Their innings was bolstered by Rajat Sharma 67, Lakshay  54, and Sanvir Singh 39. For Mumbai S.Khan 3 for 58, H.Pawar  2 for 55, and William  1 for 44 did most of the damage.  Mumbai in their run chase were helped by U.J.Jaiswal  57 inclusive of 8 boundaries, A.W.Usmani  34 inclusive of 7 boundaries, A.K. Jaffar  48 inclusive of 9 boundaries. For Punjab Resham 2 for 60 and Sanvir Singh 2 for 51 were the most successful bowlers. ...

chandigarhsportsnews.blogspot.in PUNJAB RECOVER AFTER A SHAKY START IN U-16 VIJAY MERCHANT TROPHY Punjab Under-16 took on Mumbai Under-16 in the 3-day Pre-Quarter Final match at Shivaji College Ground, Delhi .  Winning the toss and electing to bat Punjab were soon on the backfoot as they lost their first wicket of Sahil (04) with the team’s total reading 06 for 01. Punjab ’s slide continued thereafter and they lost Rajat (20) Lakshay (27), Mansab Gill (0) Ikjot (0) reducing the team to 72 for 5 in 29.5 overs. Then Vineet Dhakka and skipper Sanvir Singh got together to repair the innings and were involved in a 6th wicket stand of 75 runs before Vineet Dhakka got out for 47 runs off 94 balls inclusive of 6 boundaries with the team’s total reading 154 for 6. After Dhakka’s dismissal wicket keeper Pradeep Yadav joined his skipper Sanvir Singh and the two were together at close of play with team’s total reading 220 for 6.
