Mumbai chasing Punjab’s first innings total of 309 made a strong reply by scoring 271 for 4 at close 2nd days play. Punjab resuming at overnight 220 for 6 were bowled out for 309 in 101 overs. Overnight not out batsman skipper Sanvir Singh was unlucky to miss a well deserved hundred by 2 runs when he got out after scoring 98 with the help of 14 boundaries off 210 balls. Pradeep Yadav however, kept one end up and took his team past the 300 mark before getting out for 89 off 126 balls inclusive of 10 boundaries.  K.A. Dafedar 3 for 78 and A.Shaikh 3 for 26 did most of the damage for Mumbai.

Mumbai made a strong reply with Usmani scoring 77 off 98 balls studded with 12 boundaries and one six while Dafedar struck a brilliant century 102 off 137 balls inclusive of 19 sweetly timed boundaries and two huge sixes. Dafedar had also taken 3 wickets earlier. For Punjab right arm leg spinner Shubham Chand took 2 for 79 while the other batsmen were run out. At this stage Mumbai are strongly poised to make it to the quarter finals on first innings lead.
