The mixed doubles pair of Tang Chun Man and Christinna Pedersen won Awadhe’s trump match against Kim Gi Jung and Prajakta Sawant 15-14 15-13 giving the Lucknow-based outfit a 2-0 lead. Parupalli Kashyap made it 3-0 after defeating Ajay Jayaram 15-9 15-12. Saina Nehwal overcame Michelle Li 6-15, 15-13 15-13. Wang Tzu Wei crushed Kidambi Srikanth 10-15 15-9 15-6 to open NE Warriors’ account. The men’s doubles pair of Kim Gi Jung and Shin Baek Cheol registered a 15-10 15-12 victory over Harendra Setiawan and Tang Chun Man.

Last-gasp goal helps Neroca hold EB 1-1
Neroca FC scored a last-gasp goal through Nedo Turkovic of Bosnia-Herzegovina to hold East Bengal 1-1 and jump to the third spot in the I-League. Katsumi Yusa gave the visitors the lead in the 12th minute and the Kolkata side were on the verge of sealing a victory before Turkovic struck the equaliser in the 89th minute.

Australia recall spinner Agar for Sydney Test
Left-arm spinner Ashton Agar has been recalled to Australia’s squad for the fifth Ashes Test in Sydney as the hosts ponder a twin-spin attack against England for the dead rubber.
