Kings XI co-owner Ness Wadia gets 2-year suspended sentenced in Japan

Kings XI Punjab co-owner Ness Wadia Ness has been sentenced two-year jail term in Japan over drug possession. The business tycoon was reportedly found in possession of drugs while on a skiing holiday in Japan.

The Sapporo District Court handed him a two-year prison sentence, which was suspended for five years.

Wadia was reportedly arrested in early March at New Chitose Airport in the northern island of Hokkaido, after the customs officials found 25g of cannabis resin in his trouser pockets.

Wadia has reportedly denied reports over his arrest but admitted to the possession of drugs saying that it was for his personal use.

The Kings XI co-owner and business tycoon Wadia was reportedly arrested at New Chitose Airport in northern Japanese island of Hokkaido.

Japan’s narcotics laws are strict and are currently being applied especially tightly. Wadia had reportedly spent a period in detention before his indictment on March 20 and an undisclosed period of detention before a court hearing.

Wadia has since left Japan and has returned to India, it further claimed.

Ness Wadia has also had a troubled past with fellow Kings XI co-owner and ex-girlfriend Preity Zinta, who had also filed a molestation case against him.

Ness is the eldest son of Bombay Dyeing group chairman Nusli Wadia, who according to Forbes, has a net worth of $ 7 billion.

His prime business interests include Bombay Dyeing, Bombay Burman Trading, bakery giants Britannia Industries, airline GoAir and the share in IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab with the total market valuation of $13.1 billion.
