PKL Season VI Auction: The strong cricket connection

The Pro Kabaddi League franchisees are participating in the player acquisition auction process in Mumbai to build their squads for the PKL Season 6. The bidding process has a strong cricket connection.

And it is not Sachin Tendulkar, the Tamil Thalaivas co-owner. The cricket icon Mumbaikar is not actively involved with the auction process for the Tamil Team.

The strong cricket-PKL connection is the auctioneer for the two-day event. The man is not just himself connected to cricket, but has a strong lineage in the game. Former England, Kent and Glamorgan all-rounder. The 61-year-old former England cricketer – Christopher “Chris” Stuart Cowdrey is the auctioneer for the event.

Chris Cowdrey is a former English cricketer. Cowdrey played for Kent, Glamorgan and England as an all-rounder. He is the eldest son of the cricketer, Colin Cowdrey. Colin and Chris Cowdrey were only the second father and son combination to have both captained England, emulating Frank and George Mann.

He has captained Kent from 1986 until 1990 and retired in 1992 after a single season at Glamorgan. He has since been a broadcaster for TalkSport, as well as the occasional project with Sky Sports.

Having retired from the top level cricket at a relatively young age, Chris Cowdrey went on to find his forte as a public speaker. Chris has been one of the most popular after-dinner speakers for 20 years. He is now in great demand as a Sports after-dinner speaker, Auctioneer and Master of Ceremonies at all types of corporate events.

Chris has been appointed as auctioneer for the two-day auctions of the sixth season of the Vivo Pro Kabaddi League.
