Double, or triple Ranji Trophy fee to prevent pull-outs: Gavaskar

The great Sunil Gavaskar applauded BCCI's reward system for Test players. He advocated increasing Ranji Trophy fees to avoid pull-outs. Gavaskar also suggested scheduling the Ranji Trophy from October to mid-December to allow practice for the IPL. The BCCI had recently denied central contracts to a couple of players for non-participation in the Ranji Trophy.
